The Akaiwa Formation (Japanese: 赤岩層, romanized: Akaiwa-sō) is an Early Cretaceous (Aptian) geologic formation in central Honshu, Japan. Fossils of the turtle Kappachelys and indeterminate ornithischians are known from the formation, as well as fossil ornithopod tracks.
