Shastasauridae

Merriam 1902

Les Shastasauridae constituent une famille éteinte d'Ichthyosauria très grands à géants, à corps allongé, appartenant au clade des Merriamosauria. Ils ont vécu du Trias moyen (Ladinien) au moins jusqu'au Trias supérieur (Rhétien), soit il y a environ entre 242 et 201 Ma, avec un pic de diversité au Carnien. Ils ont vécu en Europe, en Amérique du Nord et en Chine.
